Why I built this in the first place

This academy didn’t come from a desire to “create content.” It came from frustration.

I’ve always had a strong passion for mentoring. I still do it constantly, informally, with younger professionals, colleagues, and people trying to break into development. And almost every conversation sounds the same:

“I know I want to do development… I just don’t know how to get there.”

That was me in my twenties.

I wanted this career badly. The problem was, I had no clear roadmap. I couldn’t find good resources. I couldn’t find honest explanations of what the job actually required. And I definitely couldn’t find anyone breaking down the mental models developers use to make decisions.

I’ll admit something mildly embarrassing here.

When I read The Art of the Deal in my twenties (don’t judge me), it lit a fire inside me. Not because it was a technical guide, but because it made me realize something simple and dangerous:

I wanted to be a real estate developer.

The problem was, I had no idea how to translate that desire into a path. So my journey into development took a long time. Longer than it needed to. Years spent adjacent to the industry, slowly piecing things together through experience, observation, and trial by fire.

By Right Academy exists to compress that decade-long learning curve into a much shorter timeline.
